China Glaze Emotion (Romantique)

>> Wednesday, March 4, 2009

Today my nails are wearing Emotion from China Glaze:

Outdoors.

Indoors.

I'm not sure if I like this one or not. It's almost pink but not really. Dirty pink with metallic shimmer, I guess? Actually it's a bit deeper and brighter than in pictures.

But the one thing I love about this and other Romantique Collection's nail polishes is that they look totally different outdoors and indoors. You don't get bored with them that easily!

Old-Timer of the week: Anytime Dates

>> Friday, February 27, 2009

Here's this week's Old-Timer:

Anytime Dates.

This one is a cutie (again!). It's actually more pink, almost fuchsia. I have no idea why I haven't worn it before (!), it's such a beautiful color and it has a great shimmer and nice bluish reflection. Actually I have many Anytime's nail polishes which I haven't worn yet so you are going to see many polishes from this brand...

And as you can see, polishes do not get old. They are just like women: they just keep getting better!

Best before 06/2007...

Actually I compared this with China Glaze's Limbo Binbo and they were almost identical! Now I don't need Limbo Binbo that much.

OPI I'm Indi-a Mood for Love

>> Wednesday, February 25, 2009

Going pink again!

Today's pink polish is OPI's I'm Indi-a Mood for Love.

It's a beautiful, creamy polish. It covers well, I'm using two coats in this picture. For some reason I just can't resist these pink polishes.

At the moment I'm also really drooling for China Glaze's Limbo Bimbo, which I just keep staring and touching at work. I think it's the most beautiful pink I've ever seen and I just have to order it one day. But as you know there's no sense ordering just one nail polish when you have to pay the postage costs also so I have to order many other polishes too...poor me!

Do you have Limbo Bimbo? Do you love it too?

NYX Girls Lingerie

>> Tuesday, February 24, 2009

Today's polish is NYX Girls Lingerie.

I really expected more from this polish and I have to admit that it was a disapointment. In fact I'm so disapointed that I don't even want to say anything about this dull and boring polish.

They say one picture tells 1000 worlds so here's a short story for you, dear reader:

And as you can see, it didn't even last well.
(But it had a lovely diamond on the bottle!)

OPI Italian Love Affair

>> Monday, February 23, 2009

What's the cutest color in the world?
PINK!!!

Look how adorable this is! It has almost a creamy finish (just a little bit of shimmer) and it's so beautiful and the color is so soft. It needs two coats, I'm wearing three in this picture.

I wanted to add some effect and added a layer of Lumene's Horizon on top and here's how it looks:

China Glaze in Kicks!

>> Sunday, February 22, 2009

Good news for all my Finnish, Swedish and Norvegian readers!

Kicks is taking China Glaze to their sortiment!
(And for those of you who have no idea what is Kicks: It's our Sephora, Boots or CVS.)

At first they are going to start with only 12 colors:
-Golden Meringe
-Limbo Bimbo
-Innocence
-Rich & Famous
-Evening Seduction
-Shocking pink
-Go Crazy Red
-Charoscuro
-Drastic
-Jetstream
-White on White
-Ruby Pumps

I really hope that they would expand their range quickly. In Finland the price will be 9,9€ so they aren't as cheap as bought from the Internet but the price isn't that bad.

They should be shortly available in Finland. Don't know if they already are in Sweden? Kicks is a Swedish store so they usually have everything first. Have you, my dear Swedish (or Norwegian) readers, seen Chine Glaze there already?

Are you happy to be able to buy China Glaze from Kicks?

China Glaze Rodeo Fanatic

>> Saturday, February 21, 2009

Today I was wearing China Glaze's Rodeo Fanatic for the first time and at the moment I think it also was the last time.

At first I wore it alone (three layers) and I didn't like it at all. It's not black but it's not blue or turquoise...not sure what it is. But it doesn't look cute on me, it has a little too much of attitude and rock n' roll, eventough it has that nice shimmering effect. In these pictures it's a bit too blue, it's actually more emerald.

Finally I added a layer of Anytime's Sparkling Fizz on top and that actually made me almost to like this manicure. But it was just almost. I didn't even make an effort to remove the excess polish from my cuticles.

The lacquering reminds me of a starry sky.

Do you like Rodeo Fanatic?

Old-timer of the week: Anytime Celebration

>> Thursday, February 19, 2009

Like I said I own over 150 polishes which I haven't introduced to you yet. A huge part of them are so old that they aren't even available anymore. And the fact is that nail polishes don't get too old, you can almost always revive them and use every bit of them. So I got an idea to start a new serie:

The Old-Timer of the Week.

And here's this weeks Old-Timer:

Anytime Celebration.

Everyone in Finland knows Anytime. It's a brand that doesn't exist anymore (discontinued in summer 2008) but almost every make up using Finnish girl has started with Anytime. If you know the Finnish cosmetic brand "Lumene" this is it's "little sister", something similar that Maybelline is to Loreal.

This was the same nail polish that I was using four years ago with my matching "prom dress". It's really girly with beautiful shimmer. I still love this color! Don't have any idea why I haven't used this since.
And as you can see it really is an old-timer, here's the best before -day:

06/2007! So it must be at least four or five years old. But it's as good as any of my new nail polishes.
(And by the way, I just found out that the color is quite smilar to Nfu-oh 67.)

OPI Mauve-lous Memories

>> Wednesday, February 18, 2009

Thankfully we here in Finland were blessed with another bright and sunny (but cold!) day and I was able to take a good picture of todays polish.

Today's polish is OPI's Mauve-lous Memories and it's so freaking awesome! I think it's a bit more pink than mauve, but I believe it's mauve because the name says so and I can not disagree with OPI. Please, take a closer look! You can see the delicate golden shimmer. Aww! <3 I don't want to take this off ever!

And as some of you might remember, I've made some promise not to buy any new nail polishes for a while. So here's a great information for those of you who might have been afraid that I'm not going to make that many new posts because of my promise: I just counted my nail polishes last evening and there were over 150 polishes that I haven't introduced to you.
So I just have to quote Apu from the Simpsons:

China Glaze Joy (Romantique) + NYX Girls CN227

>> Tuesday, February 17, 2009

Sun is shining, the weather is sweet...
Unbelievable, we're having sunshine here in Finland!

What a gorgeous day to wear China Glaze's Joy from the stunning Romantique collection.

I'm lovin it like they say in McDonalds! This is just fabulous, especially in daylight when you can easily see the metallic shimmer. The metallic purple color is to die for and it applies well with no visible brush strokes.

After awhile I wanted to get decorative and try out my NYX Girls polish (CN227) with hearts:

Not sure if I like those hearts or not. At least there should be more hearts in the clear polish itself. It took me two layers to set all these hearts and I just don't even know how to place them without making it look messy. Ideas, advices...? Because now they just look badly placed nailstickers...

Finally I did the final adjustment and added a layer of Nyx Girls CN229. Not sure if it made my manicure better or worse. Maybe a little better?

But like I said yesterday, at the moment I'm more into simple, plain manicures. Much more.
(And no sun in these last twho pictures. It was already 3:30 PM and the sun was already setting and there were clouds aready in the sky. I know, our dark winter is so great!)

Maybelline Gold Delight

>> Monday, February 16, 2009

Here's a wild manicure for you:

I just couldn't resist the temptation to try this one out. The bottle of Maybelline's Gold Delight was almost empty so I had to do something with it. I haven't done any tips with Konad so this was my first attempt. It didn't turn out as cool as I thought it would be, because those leopard tips became too wide. But it was wild enough to wear for one day!

China Glaze Down Under Dusk

>> Sunday, February 15, 2009

At the moment I'm also really into nude, chocolate toned polishes. Here's one edible manicure:

The polish is China Glaze's Down Under Dusk. I'ts so soft and light and it actually looks like creamy fudge! I don't know why I'm so into these boring tones at the moment, but for some reason they appeal to me and I just have to polish my nails with them evetough I have a whole lot of much more interesting polishes!

I'm also really into plain and simple manicures at the moment. I don't need many details and decorations, just a simple and chic nail polish.

Is anyone else living a boring era right now?

China Glaze Cherish (Romantique)

>> Thursday, February 12, 2009

Today I'm wearing China Glaze's Cherish from Romantique Collection:

It's a cute, pale and soft green polish with metallic shimmer. You'd only need one coat but I used two coats to make it more even. The polish itself is great. I hardly ever wear green polishes and I really don't like them that much, but for some reason I like this one very much. Maybe it's because this ain't so bright?

And like I said the polish itself is great, but look at my ring finger. LOL! I was supposed to do red Konad flowers but then I got lazy and just added some stickers and they turned out really, really horrible. I struggled with them one day but I just have to take them off now, they look so tacky.

Are you into green polishes?

China Glaze Red Stallion and Sexy

>> Wednesday, February 11, 2009

I'm sorry I haven't been able to write that often lately. I've been pretty busy with all the other things and didn't have that much time to play with my nails and polishes. I'll try to find more time and write more often, I promise!

Today I'm wearing China Glaze's Red Stallion (one coat) and Sexy on top of that (one coat also). Red stallion covers well, but Sexy is more see-through so they are a great couple together. Red Stallion is a warm, deep red polish and one coat of Sexy on top of it makes it look more orange-toned red. Sexy also leaves lovely, shimmery surface.
Cute Valentine's day nails!

China Glaze's polishes are definitely my favourite polishes. I do like OPI also but these I like even more. They almost never fail me, I've had only one China Glaze's polish which I didn't like enough to keep it and sold it forwards (Sex on the Beach). Is anyone else in love with China Glaze's polishes? Usually everybody prefers OPI more.

And as you can see my nails are quite short at the moment. For some reason they just keep tearing, splitting and breaking. Last friday I started to eat biotin (5 mg/day) and now I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that my nails would grow fast and be stronger. It just feels that it will take forever to find out if the biotin really works for me. I believe it will take about three months before the whole nail has grown out and before it's stronger. Shame that I'm one of those persons who wants everything to happen right now...

Lumene Cinderella Story

>> Monday, February 9, 2009

Look at this beauty!

Align Center

Lumene Cinderella Story.

I just found this lovely polish from my collection and I'm totally in love with it! I'm not sure if I even have worn it before, I've probably just tossed it with my other polishes after I've got it from work last autumn. Well, yesterday I decided to give it a try and now I'm totally hooked!

It covers well, it's easy to apply and it has adorable golden shimmer (which I couldn't capture perfectly in these pictures). Plus it's pink! It also stays well: I've worn this polish for two days before I took these pictures and in those two days I've been cleaning, scrubing and dealing with water a lot! And the polish still looks almost like I've just polished my nails! What else can you ask from a perfect nail polish!

OPI Play 'Til Midnight

>> Friday, February 6, 2009

Here's a great, midnight blue polish: OPI Play 'Til Midnight.

This one is from Holiday in Toyland Collection.
It's really dark and deep blue and in less lighting it looks almost balck. And with some lighting it even looks really, really deep, bluish violet!

It has a nice, soft shimmer and when you look closely you can discover some really tiny red and violet glitters.

I'm not really into blue polishes but for some reason I like this very much. Are you into blue polishes?

Lumene Horizon

>> Wednesday, February 4, 2009

Another Lumene nail polish again. These were my favourite nail polishes before I was introduced to the world of OPI and China Glaze and before I knew that I can get a lot cheaper polishes from the Internet.

Lumene Horizon indoors and outdoors.

This is a cute, sheer light pink polish with a lilac flash. If you can imagine the inner surface of a shell in good lighting this looks excactly like that.

It's quite sheer so I used three coats and Poshe on top. And because it is a see-through polish it also looks great on top of another nail polish. I still haven't tried it on top of a black polish but I believe it would look really nice. I must try that combo sometime.

At the moment I'm really into these light polishes. I don't like them to be completely nude and see-through, as I want them to also cover with two or three layers.
What kind of polishes are you into at the moment?

OPI Pretty at the Premiere

>> Monday, February 2, 2009

Let me introduce you: OPI Pretty at the Premiere!

Pretty at the Premiere is a beautiful red polish with a nice metallic shimmer. These picture's are taken indoors where it looks really warm and even a bit coppery toned, but I've seen outdoor pictures where this same polish looks more cold and burgundy. Sadly I didn't have time to take a picture of this outdoors or actually even look at this outdoors, but I will take a picture of it next time when I'm outdoors and wearing it!

And do you want to hear today's happy news? I finally got rid of Lumene's light pink polish called "Smiling Nights" so you don't have to see it in here ever again! I know you have seen it here lately quite often but no more Smiling Nights, I promise! I used the last drops to my toenails today and tossed the bottle away. Yippee, this was the second polish this year!

OPI Charmed By A Snake

>> Sunday, February 1, 2009

Today's polish is OPI's Charmed By A Snake:

This is a really pretty chocolate colored polish with a light, golden shimmer. It covers quite well, but I'm still using three coats in these pictures (first one indoors, second and third outdoors). I don't think these pictures are showing the true color of this polish. Actually it's darker than in those outdoor pictures but not as yellow as in indoor picture.

For some reason I just wanted a really simple manicure today. No Konad, glitters, stickers or anything. Just a nice and simple polish. And because the manicure is so simple I don't think I have anything else to say about it. Nice polish and I'll keep using it in the future.

Water marbling, first attempt

>> Thursday, January 29, 2009

Today I finally got the water marbling technique right and I was able to do all my nails using it.

Here's my masterpiece:

Sadly all of the nails weren't that excellent. If you must see, here are all of my nails:

As you can see I tried out some different styles and techniques. The polishes that I used were Maybelline's French White and China Glaze's Rich and famous. After I had finished with my marbling and cleaned my fingers (there was plenty of polish to wipe off!) I used one coat of Anytime's Sparkling fizz to add a little sparkle.

If you want to learn about water marbling just type it to the Youtube and you will find many informative videos.

IsaDora Diamond Blue

>> Wednesday, January 28, 2009

Don't you just love the cool, shimmery and light blue tone?
Isn't it pretty? Just look at the beautiful, a bit silvery trace!
Ain't it a keeper?

No, it's one of the worst polishes ever! IsaDora, I hate you and your new extra width brushes. Just look at this brush:

-It's too width. You just can not polish precisely with it.
- It's too short. The short brush just makes it really hard to work with. When you are adding a layer, suddenly a massive
flow of polish comes down from the part where the bristles are attached to the short and width brush and it makes a real mess.

Other negative things:
-The bottle so small, only 6 ml of nail polish inside.
-It really costs a lot, almost 8 euros. For that price you almost get three OPI polishes from 8ty8beauty.com.

Something positive? I do love the color plus it doesn't take too long to dry.
But that's about it.

China Glaze Cross Iron 360

>> Tuesday, January 27, 2009

At first I have to apologize that you haven't heard anything about me or my nails since the last thursday. I've been really tired after work (late shifts) and also I had a little trip. I went to see my parents and my friends to my hometown but now I'm back again.

Do you want to hear (well, actually see) the best part of my trip? She (the best part) is called "Little Princess" and she looks like this:

Yes, that's right. I've got my very own laptop and not just any laptop: It's small and pink! What a QT!

The other great thing from my trip is my lacquering:

I'm wearing China Glazes Cross Iron 360 (two coats, the first picture is taken indoors, the second one outdoors). The polish isn't mine, it's my mom's. Every time I go and see my mom I just have to try a polish from her collection and hope that I won't fall in love with that certain polish so I don'thave to order new polishes...

Cross Iron 360 is really nice copper/orange polish. It's not too dark or deep copper but not too bright orange either. It has a subtle shimmer which makes it nice and vibrant. I almost feel like buying it but I know I can't. Not at the moment. I've got too many bottles to empty before I'm even allowed to think about buying.

And oh, didn't I mention this yet: I've bought some new nail polishes last week... I'm a bit ashamed because I could only manage three weeks without buying polishes. That's not good at all! So now I just have to pull my self together! No more new nail polishes for me (not at least in the next month...)!
